CBN Directs All Bad Naira Notes Deposited On/Before September 2nd

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has advised all that have overused or mutilated Naira notes to deposit such monies at the nearest bank on or before Monday, September 2, 2019.

This notice was shared by respective banks as directed by the apex bank.

“As part of its efforts to improve the overall quality of the Naira notes in circulation, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has introduced the Clean Note Polity and Banknotes Fitness Guidelines”, a statement reads as shared by one of the leading banks in the country – Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB).

The statement reads further: “Please note that overused notes include any Naira note that is now weak to such an extent that it could easily tear at further handling or processing. Mutilated notes include any Naira note that has been partially or permanently damaged, but which clearly still has more than half of its original size together.”

“As Nigerians, it is our patriotic and collective responsibility to handle the Naira with care, and as your Bank, we urge you to comply with this directive in order to improve the quality of our national currency.” the statement concluded.

Corona Virus: US Seeks Medical Professionals for Visa Appointment

The United States has asked medical professionals around the world who want to work in America to reach out for visa appointment.

On Thursday, the United States overtook China as the country with the highest number of novel coronavirus patients anywhere in the world.

 

To further tame the spread of the virus and treatment of those infected, the US is calling out to medical professionals to apply to work in the North American country.

“We encourage medical professionals seeking to work in the United States on a work or exchange visitor, particularly those working to treat or mitigate the effects of COVID-19, to reach out to the nearest embassy or consulate to request a visa appointment,” the statement read.

The US is also extending visas for medical professionals in the country.

“For those foreign medical professionals already in the United States: J-1 Alien Physicians (medical residents) may consult with their program sponsor, ECFMG, to extend their programs in the United States.

“Generally, a J-1 program for a foreign medical resident can be extended one year at a time for up to seven years.

Note that the expiration date on a U.S. visa does not determine how long one can be in the United States.”
