Lagos Island Suspends NURTW as Members Kicks Against MC Oluomo’s Emergence as State Chairman

The Lagos Chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) is currently not having it all good as some of the member of the union are kicking against the emergence of Musiliu Akinsanya popularly known as MC Oluomo as the Caretaker Chairman.
The members who took to the premises of the Lagos State House of Assembly on Wednesday evening in Ikeja demanded that they do not welcome imposition.

“We say yes to union constitution, we want the government to save our soul in Lagos” reads one of the placards while others reads: “We say no to thuggery in Lagos NURTW”.
The National President of the union, Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa, had on Tuesday appointed MC Oluomo as the Caretaker Chairman despite contesting for the Lagos branch chairmanship position while dissolving the executive committee which had been headed by Tajudeen Agbede – the union’s current deputy.

Ademola Olanrewaju, the chairman of the Ojuwoye NURTW branch was of the opinion that MC Oluomo‘s emergence will lead to chaos and agitated that his tenure is not needed in Lagos.
In a similar event, the Lagos Island Local Government had suspended the union in order to restore peace and forestall loss of lives and properties in the area.
The Executive Chairman of the local government had also directed the security operatives in a Press Release to deal decisively with members of the group or any who violates the directives.

The Oyo State Government had recently banned the union in the state due to violence and crisis within the union when the union threatened to force a change of the leadership of the union.
