Adeyanju Petition EFCC over Tinubu’s Bullion Van on Elections Eve

The convener of Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju, has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to investigate the national leader of the All Progressive Party, APC, and former governor of Lagos State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The EFCC had earlier noted that there was no petition to investigate Tinubu when there was a public outcry that bullion vans went into his residence on the eve of the 2019 presidential election.
The anti-corruption agency also clarified that they have the right to investigate anyone whose lifestyle is suspicious.
Adeyanju and some journalists were initially harrassed by the security operatives at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja while requesting that Tinubu be investigated.

In a 3 paged letter received by the EFCC, Adeyanju asked:

  • What are Bullion Vans doing in the house of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu?
  • “Who owns the content, believing to be cash in the Bullion Vans that were seen entering the house of Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the eve of Nigerian presidential elections?”
  • “Has the commission, based on its core mandates, investigated the source of the Bullion Vans?”
  • “Is Bola Ahmed Tinubu house, now a bank where Bullion Vans now take money to?”

It will be recalled that popular social media activist, Segun Awosanya, aka Segalink, had within a week earlier petition Tinubu if he felt it was wrong of the APC leader to have had two bullion vans at his Bourdillon home on the eve of the presidential and National Assembly elections.
Adeyanju, between December 2018 and March 2019 had spent 78 days in detention and said he is confident that the EFCC would take action on the matter.
