Girl who Pleaded to sign on Graduate’s Shirt Gets Scholarship from NGO

A young girl, Nana Fatima Alhassan, pictured hawking groundnuts who pleaded to sign on the shirt of a graduate who finished his final exams at the Federal University of Technology, Minna is now enrolled in primary two of the varsity’s staff school through the help of an NGO.
Nana had pleaded to sign on the graduate’s shirt saying, “uncle, please make I sign na, one day, I wan be like you.”

The picture which captivated so many people’s attention within and outside the university’s community gained her an invite to the campus radio station, Search 92.8FM, for an interactive session.

In the interview with the President of GHIFoundation, Mrs Munira Suleiman Tanimu said her foundation is committed to helping the less privileged across rural and urban communities of Nigeria.
The NGO, Green Heart Impact Foundation (GHIF) is committed to the eradication of child-hawking in Nigeria through the provision of qualitative education to vulnerable children, particularly the girl-child.
With over 6 million girls out of school in Nigeria, GHIF wants to create a future for every girl with an initiative tagged Books Over Trays project.
