The Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Onilude Segun Adeniran, has dismissed having knowledge of taxes from motorists in the ancient town.
This was disclosed by Sewedo Olalekan Samuel, the Chief Press Secretary of the local government in a press release shared to O’News.
“The Chairman wishes to condemn this act in strong terms as he has not given permission to any staff of Badagry Local Government or authorised any agency to collect carriage waste permit on behalf of Badagry Local Government” the statement reads.
It further clarified that “if there is anything of such, it is criminal and the perpetrators will be made to face the wrath of the law.”
A fee of ₦25,000 and above has been forcefully requested from motorists by a team claiming to get the Chairman’s mandate as a way of generating revenue for the government.
The public are enjoined to report any form of unlawful collections to the Chairman’s office at the Council Secretariat.
