Breakdown of COVID-19 Cases Across Lagos LGAs as 7 New Private Centres Get Accreditation

The Lagos State Government has given updates on the recent developments on the novel Corona Virus.
The team today while giving the situation report today shared insights into the spread across the local government areas of the state.
Eti-Osa and Alimosho Local Government Areas has the highest cases of COVID-19 while Epe and Badagry respectively had the least.

1,629 persons per million of Lagos State population were reported tested since the commencement of the virus in the state.
Even though 42% of COVID19 confirmed cases in Nigeria are in Lagos, the State accounts for only 23.6% of recorded COVID19 deaths in Nigeria.
Sequel to the increase, there were changes in the Lagos Policy for COVID-19 and these includes:

• Transition to Community Based Care and Inclusion of Community Based Care to management of COVID19 cases;
• Expansion of Isolation to include Private health facilities;
• Inclusion of Private Laboratories in COVID19 response.

Approved private laboratories includes:

1. Total medical services
2. SynLab
3. 54 Gene
4. Medbury Medical Services
5. Biologix Medical Services
6. 02 Medical Services
7. China Lancent Laboratories

These accredited laboratories are expected to start testing within the next few days.
At the briefing was the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Dr. Olusegun Ogboye, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos Primary Health Commission Board, Dr. Olugbemiga Aina and the Permanent Secretary @lagoshsc, Dr. Muyiwa Eniayewun.
