There was mild drama at the Ondo State House of Assembly as members moved to impeach the State Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi.
According to a source in Akure, the Deputy Governor, Ajayi was accused of gross misconduct and was served an impeachment notice.
This was supported by 14 lawmakers and rejected by 9 others.
It was gathered that the lawmakers had on June 6th, after it’s recess released an advertorial calling all members to resume sitting for an urgent matter.
It was learnt that the call for impeachment may not be unconnected to the recent political activities witnessed in the State after the Deputy Governor decamped from the ruling All Progressives Congress to the main opposition, the People’s Democratic Party, a move that has been connected to the forthcoming governorship election in the State.
In yet another twist, the Deputy Governor sued the Assembly to prevent his impeachment.
