The lawmaker representing Badagry at the Federal House of Representatives, Babatunde Hunpe, has shared insights into the rehabilitation and expansion project of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway leading from Agbara to Seme border.
Hunpe noted that a sum of ₦4.5 billion was released from the Sukuk fund for the handling of the road construction project.
He noted that the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing as well as relevant ministries has allocated the sum for the project to be released to the contractor who will thereafter return to site as the pandemic relaxes.
The contractor is however expected to commence work on the main construction and palliative works simultaneously.
Recall that ₦1 billion was budgeted in 2019 for the construction of the project and a little above ₦1 billion was also budgeted for the road in this year 2020 fiscal year.
Hunpe also expressed his gratitude on behalf of his constituency to the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola for considering the road as one of top priority in Nigeria.
The Lagos-Badagry Expressway is one of 44 roads in the country earmarked to benefit from the Sukuk Fund and 6 from the South West zone.
