Former Imo State Governor and Senator representing Imo West, Rochas Okorocha has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
According to a report by Africa Independent Television, AIT, the spokesperson of the Commission, Wilson Uwujaren confirmed the arrest.
Okorocha is being detained for interrogation over corruption allegations during his 8-year tenure as Governor.
Okorocha who was Governor of Imo state from 2011 to 2019 has faced several allegations of Fraud and financial misappropriation, all of which he has denied.
In February, he landed in a police station in Imo after engaging in a brawl with some government officials over some of his wife’s properties that were confiscated.
This is the first major arrest done by the anti-graft commission since its new chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa took over.
