The Federal Government has announced that it has commenced the partial payment of stipends to beneficiaries of its special public works (SPW) programme.
The minister of state, labour, and employment, Festus Keyamo, made the announcement via his Twitter account on Saturday, April 17.

Keyamo said after rigorous scrutiny of the accounts of the participants, the ministry of finance discovered some anomalies.
According to him, some of the abnormalities discovered included accounts not matching BVNs, multiple accounts bearing a single BVN, non-existent BVNs among others.
The minister stated that the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has written to the banks to correct the irregularities before commencing payments.
He said for now, only beneficiaries of a certain bank that has corrected the anomalies are being paid, he promised that other beneficiaries will receive their payments once their banks make the corrections.
