The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has continued with former Captain Augustine Eguavoen as the Super Eagles Head Coach on Interim basis.
In the recent update, former Barcelona star, Emmanuel Amuneke was named as the first Assistant Coach while Salisu Yusuf named as the second Assistant Coach and Joseph Yobo as the third Assistant Coach. Aloysius Agu will however be the Goalkeepers’ Trainer.
Commenting on the choice of Jose Peseiro who was mentioned to have been appointed by the Federation, the NFF General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi said:
“We acknowledge and appreciate the interest that Mr Jose Peseiro has shown in Nigeria Football during our very cordial discussions and have absolutely no doubt about his capacity.
“We believe that perhaps in the future, there could be an opportunity to work with him.”
Emmanuel Amuneke was reported to have twice rejected an offer to assist the former Head Coach, Gernot Rohr and worked as NFF Technical Director but had now decided to work with the NFF as first assistant coach to Austin Eguavoen.
Recall that Eguavoen took the Super Eagles to the just concluded AFCON tournament in Cameroun with some flashes of good impressions at the event but was defeated by the Cartage Eagles of Tunisia in the second round.
