How to Obtain Your Police Clearance Certificate Online

Getting your Police Character Certificate can now be done entirely online. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to help you through the process.

Step 1: Create an Account

1. Go to the Menu: Click on the menu icon (three dashes in the top right corner).
2. Login or Sign Up: Select “Login/Sign Up”.
3. Sign Up: At the bottom of the page, click on “Don’t have an account? Sign Up”.
4. Choose Individual: Select “Individual”.
5. Select Identification Type: Choose either NIN or BVN based on what’s available.
   • To check your NIN, dial *346#.
   • To check your BVN, dial 5650#.
6. Enter Identification Number: Provide your NIN or BVN.
7. Fill in Personal Details:
   • Select your gender.
   • Choose your state of origin.
   • Input your Local Government Area (LGA).
   • Provide your address.
8. Create a Password: Set and confirm a password.
9. Create Account: Click on “Create Account”.
10. Verify Your Account: A verification code will be sent to your email and phone via SMS. Enter the code and click “OK”.
11. Login: Use your newly created email and password to log in.

Step 2: Apply for the Police Character Certificate

1. Select Service Type: Choose “Individual”.
2. Choose Police Character Certificate: Select this option and click on “Proceed”.
3. Review Your Details: Your information will be displayed. If needed, supply an alternative contact.
4. Agree to Terms: Read and accept the terms and conditions.
5. Choose Request Type: Select “International”.
6. Reason for Enquiry: Choose your reason (e.g., travelling) or select another appropriate option.
7. Enter Additional Details:
   • State of origin.
   • Place of birth.
   • Destination country (e.g., UK or Canada).
   • Place of issue of your international passport.
   • Date of issue of your international passport.
   • Answer whether you have been previously convicted.
8. Upload Required Documents:
   • Upload a recent passport photograph (2MB max).
   • Upload the data page of your international passport (2MB max).
9. Select Police Command: Choose the police command where you want to request your character certificate.
10. Confirmation: Accept the terms of use and click on “Generate Invoice”.

Step 3: Make Payment

1. Select Pay Online: Click on the option to pay online.
2. Copy Payment Reference: Keep a record of your payment reference receipt.
3. Enter Card Details: Input your card details and make the payment.
4. Alternative Payment Options: You can also choose to pay via transfer or USSD.

The cost for the Police Character Certificate is ₦30,000, and the process is fast and efficient.
