- Visit the National Population Commission’s (NPC) self-service platform at birthreg-selfservice.nationalpopulation.gov.ng.
Step 2: Follow the Simple Procedure
- On the website, follow the instructions provided to complete the birth registration process.
Step 3: Check Eligibility
- Ensure the following criteria are met:
- The child must be born in Nigeria.
- The child must have a National Identification Number (NIN).
- At least one parent must be Nigerian and possess a valid birth certificate.
Step 4: Pay the Processing Fee
- Registration is free for children under five years old at NPC registration centres.
- For online registration, a fee of NGN 2,000 applies. Payments are non-refundable.
Step 5: Download the Birth Certificate
- Once your application is successfully processed, you can download the birth certificate. Note that the certificate can only be downloaded once.
Step 6: Request Reprints if Needed
- If you require a reprint of the birth certificate, visit the NPC website to request it.
