Residents of Badagry are pleading that lawmakers representing them to be responsible and ensure that they provide the community with basic social amenities with the use of their offices.
This was revealed in preparation for the Stakeholders’ meeting scheduled for Wednesday as reported by the Nigeria News Agency.
The Constituency meetings are usually convened by Representatives of the Lagos State House of Assembly. This is to ensure that the representatives inform their constituents and offer opportunity to get insights on establishing communication channels and provide transparency to their community about federal advocacy on their behalf.
The Depegan of Badagry Kingdom, Chief Tunde Giro, on his part is hoping that the lawmakers ensure the completion of abandoned projects such as Lowcost Housing Estates, Marina Reclamation Project, abandoned VIP Chalets as well as the Oba Akran’s Palace.
“We are not happy with these abandoned projects in our communities” Giro lamented, “our representatives should wake up and act,” he concluded.
Mr. Ebenezer Kuponu, the Chairman, Community Development Committee (CDC), Badagry Local Government Area on his part is concerned about having good roads, portable water and basic social amenities.
He reacted “our lawmakers are not doing well in these areas and people are not happy because they fought a battle to get them elected into the state assembly.”
On his part, the immediate past Chairman of the Badagry branch of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Mr James Dikki expects the lawmakers to be active and participate in the house debate.
“If you debate very well at the floor of the house, you will be able to lobby for your people but if you don’t debate, there will be nothing for your constituency because you will not be recognised,” he concluded.
A staff of the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) Mr Idowu Jimoh however is stressed that “electricity supply in the area is terrible.”
