NairaBet Owner Denies Community Transformer for Asking for Bribes

Written by O'News Blog

The lawmaker representing Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal constituency of Oyo State, Akin Alabi has revealed why he asked a transformer to be taken to another community instead of the initial place intended.

The Nairabet founder said that the “youths” in the community demand they are “settled” so he ordered it to be taken to another community who needs it.

I bought a transformer for a community that requested for it in my constituency. When the delivery people got there, the “youths” there said they must “settle” boys before they drop it. They called me and I told them to take it to another community that asked as well. Their loss.

Akin had earlier revealed that he would use his personal funds to buy transformers for Egbeda Town when one of his followers requested so.

However, Nigerians have started reacting to his gesture narrating how some individuals and companies are making efforts to either repair roads or power but the youths and/or their community leadership request for money instead of accepting the offer.

I remember negotiating with a community in the lekki axis on behalf of a client who owned a factory and wanted to build a proper road from his factory to the Lekki expressway. The Baale demanded we pay 12M for the privilege, mind you the existing road was untarred w/out gutters
