Setonji David: Badagry deserves better infrastructure and social amenities to catch up with other parts of Lagos State

The lawmaker representing Badagry Constituency 2, Hon. Setonji David has emphasised that people of Badagry deserves better infrastructure and social amenities to catch up with other parts of Lagos state.
In a recent interview he granted Wale Elegbede of the New Telegraph, the lawmaker referenced the last Constituency meeting he held with relevant stakeholders which he reported was a very good mechanism the House used to feel the pulse of the people and know what they want.
He noted that the greatest environmental challenge in Badagry is the Badagry express road which is currently in a terrible state.
“It is unfortunate that an international road like that could be like that. The main potential of Badagry is tourism, it is a 40 kilometer road. It is not the fault of the Lagos State government per se, it is a federal road,” Setonji said.
When asked about how the governor has fared in his 100 days in the office, Setonji noted that” hundred days is very small in the life of a government.”
” The governor has done a lot. Let us give him more time, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will perform wonders in Lagos State. We are very optimistic. He has started well. We should give him time, he would perform wonders”
On his agenda for his Constituency, he however highlighted inadequate schools, poor drainages, bad roads, no infrastructure among others as points of action to work on.
He also observed that one major problem in Badagry is police checkpoints. He was able to share that from Igbo Elerin to Badagry Roundabout alone, there are about 20 police checkpoints.
These, he explained, made no economic activities to go on in Badagry because people are always complaining about police, customs, immigration, and others, who are on the road extorting money from them.
“Police are the worst in this regard. We are calling on the government to do something about this.”
When asked about the effect of the work the Federal Government has started on the road, Setonji noted that “what is going on there is beyond palliative, it is the total failure of the road.” He therefore urged the FG to expedite action so that another rainy season would not meet them there.
