The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Lagos State on Wednesday elected Mr. Deji Doherty as its new chairman.
Justice T.A.O. Oyekan-Abdullai had ordered the parties to keep the peace and maintain the status quo until November 18 when the motion on notice will be argued.
The election was supervised by senator Ben Obi and four (4) other members and organised by a special election committee set up by the National Working committee of the party.
Despite a Lagos High Court restraint on Tuesday that the current state executive led by Dominic Adegbola were not carried along, the party still went ahead.
Only 45 of the 68 delegates approved by the NWC however voted in the election which was held at a hotel in Maryland, Lagos, said Obi.
Winners however include Showole Jubril as state party vice-chairman (central senatorial district); Amode Akeem (organising secretary); Adeniyi Rotimi (assistant organising secretary); Muyideen Tejumade (legal adviser); Olalekan Akeem (assistant legal adviser), Olayinka Dada (assistant secretary); Kolawole Mike (party chairman, Apapa Local Government Area) and Akojemu Florence (party chairman, Badagry LGA).
Doherty urged all other party members to come together and work as one.
