Nigerian Wrongly Identified and Pronounced Dead in Iranian Plane Crash

How would you feel seeing your image used for the dead while you are still alive? In what can be termed as mistaken identity, a Nigerian Dauda Onoruoiza was at the centre of this.
Onoruoiza was identified by some leading news platform online and print such as the Punch Newspaper, Thisday, Legit and Instablog9ja to name a few as being one of the victims of the Ukraine International Airlines Boeing 737 plane that crashed in Tehran on Wednesday, killing all 176 onboard.
In an interview with TVC News, Onoruoiza expressed his disappointment on the fake news and noted that his mother at first slumped but did not die.
He wondered why popular platforms which are considered credible will not go the extra mile to investigate and verify publications than spread unconfirmed news at the detriment of others.
According to the official passengers and crew members manifests, released by the Ukraine International Airlines and the Iranian Civil Aviation Authority on Wednesday, the name Dauda Onoruoiza is conspicuously missing and a close look at all of the 176 names listed on both releases, show that none of the names is of Nigerian origin.
It is still not known if Onoruoiza will take any legal action against these platforms.
