Sanwo-Olu: Tourism and Entertainment Sector Will Receive Due Attention in 2020

The Lagos State Government has said that the tourism and entertainment sector would receive due attention this year.

Governor Sanwo-Olu made the pledge at the grand finale and end of the year fun and entertainment Extravaganza organised by the state government through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

The event was held at the five divisions of the state – Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island and Epe.

Mr. Governor also encouraged Lagosians to continue the new year in positivity, hopes and unlimited aspirations.

The Commissioner for Tourism, Mrs. Shuli Adebolu noted that not less than 350,000 Lagosians participated in this year’s edition of the annual music and entertainment show and that it was all peaceful and orderly all through.

The finals of the Talent Hunt, across all the five centres of the show produced Samuel Olawarinde from Agege venue as the best dancer with the prize money not disclosed while Jazz from Eko Atlantic City venue emerged the overall best Music/Rapper going home with ₦5 million and a recording deal.

Victor Olaiya Eulogised After Passing on at 89

Veteran highlife musician Victor Abimbola Olaiya is dead aged 89 after a brief illness on Wednesday afternoon at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).

Papingo Dalaya, as the highlife maestro was called, was born on the 31st of December, 1930 in Calabar, Cross River State but hails from Ijesha-Ishu, Ekiti State.

He retired from his long music career in 2017 and had some hit tracks like Omopupa, Aigana, Pambotoriboto, Opataritius, Mo fe Muyan, Jemila, Kosowo l’ode, Odale Ore, So fun mi, Omolanke, Tina Mate, among others.

Olaiya, during his lifetime associated with the Evergreen Musical Company but had long retired from his musical career in 2017.

Bimbo Esho, Managing Director, Evergreen Musical Company, on Wednesday said that the late legendary highlife musician, Olaiya, remained a living legend.

Veteran musician, Ebenezer Obey on Wednesday also mourned the late highlife music legend, whom he said lived a life worthy of emulation.

Innocent Idibia aka TuBaba on his part said he is “devastated by the news of the passing of Dr. Victor Olaiya – maestro, mentor, legend.”

“My condolences to the family of Nigeria’s highlife legend, Sir Victor Olaiya, OON. His artful delivery on the trumpet and his hits from the 50s are moments we’d never forget,” Alhaji Atiku Abubakar reacted.

Bobrisky Arrested, Luxurious Cars Seized

Popular celebrity cross-dresser, Bobrisky, has been reportedly arrested by the Nigerian Police Force at his residence in Bera Estate in Chevron Drive, Lekki and taken away to an unknown place.

According to a report by Igbere TV, an eyewitness shared that he was since returned this morning and his cars moved away.

It was gathered that his arrest is linked to his “cross-dressing” activities, although this has not been verified.

One of the officers was also quoted as saying “we will turn him back to a guy.”
