How Enyeama Retired From the Super Eagles
Prior to his retirement, Enyeama was a member of the national team from 2002 until October 2015 and served as the captain from 2013 until his retirement from international football in 2015.
He was capped 101 times and held the title until November 2021 when he was surpassed by Ahmed Musa.
After his retirement, the Super Eagles has struggled to get a replacement in the goalkeeping area and fans had repeatedly been left unsatisfied with the stand-in and for the 2024 AFCON, only a local based player was named by Jose Peseiro for the tournament and it happens to be Ojo Olorunleke from Enyimba Football Club.
