In about two weeks after sentencing Dani Alves, the most decorated football player in history with 43 trophies, to prison, he has been rumoured to have committed suicide.
The news of his death was first posted on X (formerly Twitter) by a troll account, Paulo Albuquerque, but no official source confirming the news yet.
Recall that he was sentenced on 22 February after being found guilty of raping a young woman in a Barcelona nightclub in December 2022.
Against the allegations that Dani Alves committed suicide in prison, his brother Ney Alves said:
“He has already been convicted. Isn’t that enough? He is now in prison. The madness now is that you want my brother to die. What kind of cruelty is this?
My father is over 70 years old, my mother is 60 years old. It’s over. You don’t have any family, do you? These pages continue to spread these things. May God have mercy on you.”
The 40-year-old footballer was also given a five-year suspended prison sentence and ordered to pay 150,000 euros ($162,000) in compensation to the victim.
