Sultan Abubakar, the president-general of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) in person of the Sultan of Sokoto on Sunday, March 10, has declared the commencement of Ramadan 2024 in Nigeria.
The Sultan said the crescent for the commencement of the fasting period has been sighted hence Monday, 11th March will be the first day of fasting. The announcement was confirmed by the National Moon Sighting Committee. Also, the sighting of the moon marks the end of the month of Sha’aban 1445 AH
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and it’s observed by Muslims worldwide as a month for fasting, prayer, reflection and assisting the needy.
