Haven been in custody since June 2021, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has been denied bail again but granted accelerated hearing to his case.
Kanu, who has been in custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) since his arrest, was brought to the court on Tuesday before Justice Binta Nyako.
The Justice held that the court would only grant an accelerated hearing in the matter and ordered the prosecution to call its first witness.
Reacting to the ruling, Aloy Ejimakor, who is representing Kanu expressed his displeasure saying the IPOB leader’s legal team cannot go on with the proceedings if not given an opportunity to speak with their client.
The unhappy Ejimakor said that it has been difficult to have a meeting with his client in the custody of the DSS, as their conversations was always monitored.
Kanu, who is still wearing the same outfit since he has being arraigned, was also ordered by the court to change his clothes.
