Cryptocurrency exchange platform, Binance, has confirmed that Nadeem Anjarwalla, the Africa’s regional manager, is no longer in Nigerian custody.
Responding to an email on Monday from Nigerian newspaper, The Punch, Samantha Fuller, who is the spokesperson for Binance said its concern is towards the safety and wellbeing of employees and is actively collaborating with the Nigerian government to resolve the issue swiftly.
Fuller who did not provide insights into how 38 year old Nadeem escaped via the email wrote to The Punch:
“We were made aware that Nadeem is no longer in Nigerian custody. Our primary focus remains on the safety of our employees, and we are working collaboratively with Nigerian authorities to quickly resolve this issue.”
Recall that Nadeem was detained on February 26 2024 alongside a colleague, Tigran Gambaryan when the duo arrived in Nigeria but he fled after he was granted permission to go to the mosque.
Jessica Gois, the communications consultant at JNPR, the public relations agency that works for Binance executives also responded to the newspaper platform about the whereabouts of the Binance executive saying:
“I am currently seeking feedback from my clients. Unfortunately, I can’t share any information at the moment. As soon as I receive any updates, I will let you know.”
Last week, the families of the executives said they would remain in detention for at least two more weeks in Nigeria.
