London-Lagos solo traveler / adventurer Pelumi Nubi has met with the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, after her journey from the United Kingdom, – the European country to her destination in Lagos State, West Africa.
Pelumi’s expedition kicked off on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 and was expected to culminate at the end of March 2024 but she arrived in Lagos on Sunday, April 7, 2024 after surviving a ghastly car accident in Liberia.
Welcoming the 28 year old prodigy to the Centre of Excellence, Sanwo-Olu congratulated her and appreciated her unwavering spirit and pronounced her as Lagos Tourism Ambassador for her feat with a gift of car and apartment in the state.
The Governor wrote of Pelumi:
It’s a pleasure to congratulate Pelumi, now a Lagos Tourism Ambassador, whose resilience, positive energy, and unwavering spirit are truly worth emulating. A heartfelt thank you to her parents for nurturing such a remarkable soul.
In recognition of her incredible feat, the State will take over her entire bill for the trip, she has also received a brand new car and an apartment in Lagos, ensuring her journey continues on a path of success.
The UK-based Nigerian traveller, content creator and solo driver also donated the car used for her trip to the JK Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History in Lagos State.
She was welcomed by the State’s Commissioner of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Toke Benson-Awoyinka, and the Special Adviser, Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Idris Aregbe.
During her exploits, she faced challenges at various borders and aside being involved in a ghastly car accident which fortunately had no severe impact on her.
