The meeting held on Monday night between the Nigerian Federal Government and Organised Labour concluded with several key agreements aimed at resolving the ongoing dispute over the national minimum wage.
George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, confirmed that the national tripartite committee on minimum wage will meet daily for the next week to expedite the negotiation process.
Both parties signed an agreement outlining the resolutions reached during the discussions.

1. Commitment to a Higher Minimum Wage:
The President of Nigeria is committed to establishing a national minimum wage higher than ₦60,000.
2. Daily Meetings for One Week:
To reach an agreeable national minimum wage, the Tripartite Committee will meet every day for one week.
3. Labour’s Response:
Organised Labour, respecting the President’s commitment, will hold an urgent meeting to consider this new proposal.
4. Protection of Workers:
No worker will be victimised as a result of the industrial action taken.
The resolutions came after the intervention of the National Assembly leadership on June 2nd, 2024, and the nationwide strike declared by Organised Labour on June 3rd.
The Federal Government, prioritising national interest, convened the meeting to address and resolve the strike action.
