Buhari Mourns Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission Chairman

The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, Prof. Simon Mallam, has been killed in a gas explosion on Saturday with his son and three others.
The explosion occurred around 2.00 pm on Kachia road by Anguwn Boro in Sabon Tasha area in Kaduna.
President Buhari while mourning him noted that “the death of the erudite Professor has robbed Nigeria of a great scientist whose services were acutely needed at a time we are increasing emphasis on science and technology for development.”
The Kaduna State Government had said on Saturday that it could not disclose the actual casualty until the conclusion of investigation.
Residents of the area, however, said the explosion occurred at the gas refill centre, trapping many people in the inferno.
Millions of naira and shops, mostly salons, plumbing materials, boutique and others were affected.
