Italy’s most successful Serie A club, Juventus, has gotten back the 15 Points deducted in a case centered on the club’s transfer dealings.
Why 15 Points Was Deducted From Juventus
The prosecutors from the Italian Football Association, FIGC, in January handed Juventus a 15-point deduction for capital gain violations, including so-called “salary manoeuvres”.
The club’s CEO Maurizio Arrivabene was also been handed a two-year-ban, while former vice-chairman and club legend, Pavel Nedved, was given an eight month suspension.
How The Ruling Went in Favour and Against Juventus
The club appealed the sentence in the Italian football court when some transfers involving the club was under review.
Despite having the decision upturned, the court still imposed bans some former and present Juventus directors totalling eleven.
A significant figure and the former Chairman Andrea Agnelli who is also influential in the family that is controlling the Old Ladies through their investment company Exor; others such as Pararici, Maurizio Arrivabene and Federico Cherubini also had their suspension sustained.
The likes of Pavel Nedved and several other members of the Juventus board have been cleared of wrongdoing in the capital gains case.
While Juventus’ appeal was partly accepted, the Sports Guarantee Board did not clear the club of wrongdoing but ruled that a soccer court made up of different judges should now hold new proceedings against Juventus and the directors and come up with a more appropriate punishment.
Furthermore, the club feces potential sporting penalties, including points deductions.
In a separate case Italy’s football association (FIGC) is running into the club over alleged irregularities in their payments to players.
FIGC wrapped up investigations last week and is expected to decide whether the club should face another soccer Tribunal but Juventus has denied any wrongdoings in all.
What The Points Reward Meant to Juventus on the League Table
The decision will lift the Old Ladies to third on the league table from seventh with 59 points at the moment but will still lag behind league leaders, Napoli, by 16 points yet vie for the lucrative Champions League spot.
