In order to improve patient care and enhance excellent service delivery, Reddington Hospital, Lagos, has announced some key appointments across medical specialties.
Dr Abiodun Osibamowo, a United States of America-trained Consultant Internal Medicine Physician has been announced as the Medical Director.
It also appointed Dr. Taoreed Azeez, Clinical Director, Reddington Hospital, Victoria Island. Joining the Group also as Clinical Director, Reddington Hospital, Lekki is Dr Olusesan Adebayo, an ex-Chevron Consultant General Physician.
In the team also are Dr. Faith Ekpekurede, Group Director, Emergency Medicine Services and Dr Joy Oshun, as the non-invasive Cardiology Lead.
In a press statement in Lagos. Dr Olutunde Lalude, the Group Medical Director of Reddington Hospital said the fresh appointments were in line with the hospital’s vision of attracting the best Nigerian medical personnel abroad to use their expertise and knowledge to serve Nigeria and deepen the practice of medicine across specialties.
Dr. Lalude said the appointments were further evidence of Reddington Hospital’s continued commitment to arresting outward medical tourism, reversing the brain-drain and improving standards of care.
“These goals are accompanied by a determination to make top quality healthcare affordable and creating employment opportunities to bring significant socio-economic value to Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole”, Lalude said.
The Reddington Hospital became the first private, independent hospital to be awarded International Quality Accreditation in 2013 and has been reaccredited on three occasions since then and remains internationally accredited to this day.
The hospital has also earned a reputation for being in the vanguard of medical breakthroughs and pioneering firsts in healthcare in Nigeria.
Dr Abiodun Osibamowo, Consultant Physician and Medical Director Reddington Multi Specialist Hospital, Victoria Island, Lagos graduated in 1984 from the College of Medical Sciences, University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin-City, Edo State with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB;BS) degree.
After one year of internship and then completion of the NYSC program, he worked as a Medical Officer serving several Lagos hospitals. He relocated to the United Kingdom in 1989 to develop his career and then relocated to the USA in pursuit of a postgraduate degree.
He started his residency in Internal Medicine at Woodhull Hospital, Brooklyn, USA in 1995 and graduated in 1998 with an MD (Doctor of Medicine). A year later he passed the American Board of Internal Medicine examination.
He worked at Parkland Hospital System from 2000 until 2010, and then various clinics and urgent care centres (PrimaCare) in the Dallas Metroplex area. In December 2014 he relocated to Nigeria.
In 2015, he worked at Saint Nicholas Hospital, Lagos Island, as Consultant Physician (Internal Medicine) until December 2019, and then at Reddington Multispecialist Hospital, Victoria Island in 2020 to 2021.
He relocated to Port-Harcourt, Rivers State in August 2021 and worked with RNZ Occupational Hospital as the Consultant Physician, Head of Department of Medicine and Associate Medical Director(AMD) till December 2023. He relocated back to Lagos and started working again with Reddington Multispecialist Hospital as Consultant Physician/Medical Director and Head Department of Medicine. Dr Osibamowo is married with three children.
Dr Faith Ekpekurede is an Accident and Emergency Physician trained in Ireland and the UK with around 15 years of experience in Emergency Medicine and over 30 years experience in Medical Practice..
She is a Member of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine UK. She holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Simulation Education from the Harvard Centre for Medical Simulation as a Healthcare Simulation Instructor.
Dr Ekpekurede is a Member of the Institute for Leadership and Management UK certified as a Stress Management Trainer. She is also a Member of the American Heart association Instructor Network and the Life Support Faculty in Nigeria as a Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Paediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor. She is a Member of the Nigerian Faculty for the American College of Surgeons Advanced Trauma Life Support Course as an Instructor.
She is currently the Group Director Emergency Medicine and Ambulance Services, and Group Lead for Resuscitation Science for Reddington Hospital.
Dr Joy Oshun is a Consultant Cardiologist. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Benin, Benin City in Nigeria in 2003 and embarked on her postgraduate training in internal medicine and Cardiology at the Lagos University Teaching hospital, Idi-Araba, Lagos state. She obtained her Fellowship with the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in 2012.
She is a member of the Nigerian Cardiac Society and the European Society of Cardiology. Her professional journey includes training at the Cardiology division of Tygerberg Academic Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa and in 2023, she became the first West African recipient of the cardiovascular imaging training award by the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging.
She is an advocate for an increase in clinical research, training and development of healthcare professionals and improved quality of care of patients with cardiovascular disease in Nigeria.
Dr. Taoreed Adegoke Azeez is a Consultant Physician / Endocrinologist at the Reddington Multi-Specialist Hospital, Victoria Island, Lagos. He also serves as the Clinical Director. He obtained his MBChB degree at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, in 2009, following which he did his one-year internship at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.
He did a residency training in Internal Medicine, sub specializing in Endocrinology, at the University college Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria, after which he became a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians in 2020.
Dr. Azeez had a Masters’ degree in Human Physiology at the Obafemi Awolowo University and an MBA degree at the University of the People, USA. He has equally done certificate courses in diabetes care at the University of Pretoria, South Africa and the University of Leicester, United Kingdom.
He is a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE), Endocrine and Metabolism Society of Nigeria (EMSON), Society for Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes of South Africa (SEMDSA) and the Society for Endocrinology, United Kingdom. He has published over 50 research papers in local and international journals. He is married with children.
